VisionQuest, the Marvel series about Vision, arrives on Disney+ on 14 October

The facts

VisionQuest will be released on 14 October 2026 on Disney+. Marvel Television had announced the date in May, during Disney’s annual presentation to advertisers, then confirmed it at the D23 convention in August, along with a first trailer. The series has eight episodes. In France too, it arrives on Disney+ on 14 October, according to AlloCiné.

The BFI London Film Festival has confirmed that it will screen the first two episodes, 97 minutes in all, on 12 October at the BFI IMAX, two days before they go online.

Paul Bettany returns as Vision, the android from the Avengers. James Spader comes back as Ultron, the robot he played in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Ruaridh Mollica and Faran Tahir round out the cast. The series is run by Terry Matalas, a showrunner whose credits include Star Trek: Picard.

According to the official synopsis, Vision, “rebooted” and in hiding, consults the artificial intelligences built into his programming (including J.A.R.V.I.S. and Ultron), until a bounty on his head forces him to flee with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be the reincarnation of his son.

The story so far

Vision first appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and dies in Avengers: Infinity War (2018). In the series WandaVision (2021), Wanda uses magic to recreate a version of him, while a government organisation rebuilds his original body, entirely white. At the end of the series, this “White Vision” recovers his memories, but without the emotions attached to them, then flies away. Thomas, for his part, is one of the two sons Wanda had conjured up in WandaVision.

Agatha All Along (2024) continued this story on the side of the witch Agatha Harkness. VisionQuest concludes the trilogy, even though its showrunner presents it above all as the direct sequel to WandaVision.

Why it matters

The series finally follows up the open ending of WandaVision, left hanging since 2021, and gives James Spader back a role he had not played since 2015. It also closes the trilogy begun in 2021 by WandaVision. Finally, a premiere at a film festival, in IMAX, remains rare for a Marvel series.
